The story of Kavya (Kavu) and Dhruv (Momo) will have your heart beating in awe. The first time I watched the series I had this adrenaline rush taking over me. Little Things is an extremely cute and comfort-driven series, it’s got comedy, romance, and a little decision-making but mostly heartwarming. It is a streaming television series, created by Dhruv Sehgal, who also starred in the lead role along with Mithila Palkar. In short, it is a cohabiting couple in their 20s who navigate the ups and downs of work, modern-day relationships, and finding themselves in contemporary Mumbai.

The series: Every episode of this series hits differently. Whether it is Kavu being indecisive about something and throwing tantrums, or Dhruv patiently dealing with her shenanigans. It’s like their characters are complete while being two parallel poles apart. Kavu looks like the patient and thoughtful one, but that’s Dhruv’s most visible trait. He is someone who thinks of all the consequences before he shares his opinion. While on the other hand, Kavu is the impulsive one. She is quick to act while not being sure of her decision. And the only reason she can make those impulsive decisions is because she knows Dhruv has her back.

Love>>> Distance: They live together, and everything they do seems cute to me. Whether it’s Dhruv sending Kavu biryani for lunch or Kavu just being herself around him. I always feel the love even through my screen while I watch any episode of the series. There’s one episode in the 4-season show that feels like a personal experience; it feels enacted realistically. It’s when Dhruv moves out to be an assistant researcher in another city, leaving Kavu uncertain and unsure of how she’ll live alone in Mumbai. She immensely misses him, but that’s a scene of the bigger picture yet to come. One day, she has a major breakdown while speaking with Dhruv over the call as she’s left alone in their apartment. When she confesses to Dhruv about it, all he says is, “Kavu, main aau?” (Kavu, should I come?) Although he was at a short dinner with his new friends in the new city, he was willing to make the effort to comfort Kavu with just his words.

The series makes another wild turn when Dhruv moves out to Ireland to be an assistant to one of his old school friend’s research grants. Now their relationship has transitioned into a long-distance relationship. As hard as it sounds, the series has taught me to respect people who go through a long-distance relationship. Mainly, because everything changes, but the feeling, is the only constant. Adding value to my previous statement, when Dhruv finally returns to India after 14 long months, the 4-season encompasses the ups and downs of their long-distance relationship. It shows how much they have grown as individuals, in their careers, and together as a couple. They go from speaking long hours over the phone, to just updating each other about their whereabouts. But nothing changes.

Perfect Ending: And the end of the series, in my personal opinion I feel it could have been so much better. For everything that they go through they deserve a better ending. They transitioned from a relationship to a long-distance relationship to the forever kinda thing. All their little things made me feel extremely invested in the series. But I, as a viewer didn’t feel satisfied with the end. It felt like things could’ve been done differently with the same emotions.
