As avid food enthusiasts, we couldn’t resist the lure of Yazu, especially after hearing rave reviews about this culinary gem. Our visit was a delightful journey through flavors, textures and aromas that left a lasting impression. Our culinary adventure began with a soothing cup of tea. We opted for the Jasmine tea, which greeted our senses with the delicate aroma of jasmine blossoms. The resulting infusion was subtly sweet and highly fragrant, setting the tone for our Asian culinary exploration. The Lemon Iced tea, while a tad sweeter than expected, was still a refreshing choice that we thoroughly enjoyed.
Next, we ventured into uncharted territory with the Duck Spring Rolls. This was a first for us, and it did not disappoint. The duck meat, with its distinctive gamey flavor, was a pleasant surprise. The spring roll itself was a culinary masterpiece, striking a perfect balance between a tender, moist and slightly fatty mouthfeel. The flavors of the dip harmonized beautifully, leaving us craving for more.
Our culinary exploration continued with the Spicy Tuna Roll, a sushi lover’s dream. This dish was an explosion of flavors and textures, with each bite delivering a delightful kick of spiciness. While we hold a soft spot for salmon, the Philadelphia Salmon Roll left us somewhat underwhelmed. It veered towards the bland side, leaving us wishing for more zest.
Our culinary journey at Yazu concluded on a sweet note with the Coconut Panna Cotta. This dessert, crafted from a blend of coconut milk, coconut cream, sugar, and gelatin, was a refreshing delight. Its sweetness was perfectly balanced, allowing the natural flavors to shine. We particularly enjoyed the tanginess imparted by the orange cut blocks that adorned the plate.
